SEACON (02409) announced that on July 20, 2026 (after trading hours on the Stock Exchange), buyer Seacon Shipping Pte. Ltd. (an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of the company) entered into two shipbuilding contracts with seller Changshih Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., whereby the seller agreed to construct two vessels for the buyer at a total cost of USD 66 million. Vessel A is a bulk carrier with a total tonnage of approximately 26,700 tons, to be constructed in 2028. Vessel B is also a bulk carrier with a total tonnage of approximately 26,700 tons, to be constructed in 2030. Acquiring these vessels under the shipbuilding contracts aligns with the group's strategy to gradually phase out its older controlled vessels and replace them with newer vessels to continuously optimize its fleet and expand its controlled fleet. The directors believe that expanding the group's controlled fleet will enhance the group's ability to meet more customer demands and improve the competitiveness of its shipping solutions, as the availability of commercial opportunities depends on the group's fleet. This will also allow the group to attract potential business opportunities from larger market participants, who typically evaluate vessel conditions and fleet size when selecting shipping and vessel management service providers.
