Hong Kong Airport Authority: Received a total of 5.12 million passengers and handled 31,940 flight movements in June, representing an increase of 7.9% and 2.3% respectively compared to the same period last year.

The Airport Authority Hong Kong announced today (July 20th) the aviation traffic statistics for Hong Kong International Airport in June 2026 and the first half of the year. In June, the airport received a total of 5.12 million passengers and handled 31,940 flight movements, an increase of 7.9% and 2.3% respectively compared to the same period last year. Passenger traffic growth in June was driven by double-digit growth in transit passengers. Most markets recorded growth in June, with Japan and mainland China showing the most prominent performance, while the decline in the Middle East market also narrowed. Cargo volume in June recorded a growth of 6.8% year-on-year to 436,000 tonnes. The increase was mainly driven by a 19.5% surge in transshipment volume; exports and imports also increased by 3.2% and 5.5% respectively. By region, the Middle East region regained growth after four months of conflict, recording the strongest increase; Southeast Asia and mainland China markets maintained their growth trends. In the first half of 2026, passenger traffic at Hong Kong International Airport increased by 11.7% year-on-year to 32.8 million passengers, and aircraft movements increased by 4.4% to 200,685 movements. In terms of cargo, the cargo volume in the first half of 2026 also remained steady, increasing by 4.1% year-on-year to 2.5 million tonnes. In the past 12 months, passenger traffic at Hong Kong International Airport reached 64.4 million passengers, with aircraft movements of 403,120 movements, an increase of 12.7% and 5.9% respectively compared to the same period last year. Cargo volume increased by 3.7% year-on-year to 5.17 million tonnes.
