Trump's latest statement! The US military conducted eight consecutive night raids on Iran, and the United States issued a global security warning.
Over the weekend, tensions between the US and Iran continued to escalate.
Over the weekend, tensions between the US and Iran continued to escalate. Following an Iranian attack on a Jordanian military base that resulted in the deaths of two American soldiers, the US launched another attack on Iran on July 19th local time. This is the eighth consecutive night of US attacks on Iran since the ceasefire negotiations broke down.
According to reports from CCTV News and other media, on July 18th local time, the US Central Command stated that at 6 pm Eastern Time, at the command of the joint chiefs of staff, the US military began a new round of airstrikes on Iran.
The US military stated that the purpose of this operation is to further weaken Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and to swiftly penalize the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps - the organization that had launched the attack on US troops in Jordan the previous night.
At the same time, according to Iranian sources on July 19th local time, the US military launched an attack on Hajiabad in the Hormozgan province of Iran. Early on July 19th, residents of the southern Sirik area of Iran reported hearing explosions. Government officials in the Hormozgan province stated that at 1:30 am, a US missile hit a location near Sirik.
According to the US Central Command on the 18th, the previous night, Iran attacked a military base inside Jordan, resulting in the deaths of two American soldiers, another missing soldier, and several others injured, including four seriously.
Iran retaliates and warns
Shortly before the announcement of the deaths of American soldiers by the US, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei warned that if the US continues to attack Iran, they will "teach a lesson that will be hard to forget." He also stated that the continued US attacks have proven that President Trump's signature on the memorandum of understanding is "worthless and lacks credibility."
Earlier, on July 18th local time, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran had stopped adhering to the interim agreement with the US after the US violated its commitments.
In response to the continued US attacks, Iran continued to target US military bases in several Middle Eastern countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.
According to US officials on the 18th, Iran had launched four attacks in five days on a US military base in Jordan, resulting in the deaths of two Americans, injuries to dozens, and damage to multiple helicopters.
Iran's top military advisor, Mohsen Rezaei, sternly warned on the 17th that if the US continues its attacks on Iran, Iran's armed forces will switch to full-scale attack mode.
The escalating attacks threaten civilians and infrastructure, putting the global economy on high alert once again. In the past few days, reports of desalination plants, oil facilities, bridges, power plants, and other civilian facilities in countries like Iran and Kuwait being affected have been constant.
US issues global security advisory
As the security situation in the Middle East deteriorates, the US State Department issued a global security advisory on Saturday, warning American citizens to be alert to overseas security risks and cautioning that the situation could further escalate.
The State Department stated in its announcement that due to the ongoing escalation of tensions in the Middle East, the global security environment remains complex, with unpredictable risks of escalation.
The State Department advised American citizens worldwide, especially those in the Middle East, to exercise heightened caution.
Additionally, the State Department warned that due to regional circumstances, some flights may be canceled, and the airspace of certain countries may be periodically closed, so travelers should allow for flexible travel plans to accommodate potential disruptions.
Strait of Hormuz mostly closed again
The focus of this conflict is on control of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has demanded that ships pass through its territorial waters instead of using the Oman coast route protected by the US military to navigate the strait. Currently, the Strait of Hormuz is mostly closed again, with only a few ships passing through with transponders turned off.
Dimitris Maniatis, CEO of maritime risk services company Marisks, stated at a Lloyd's List Intelligence briefing recently that shipping companies in the Strait of Hormuz are facing the "worst-case scenario," with crew members more concerned than ever before.
Recent statement by Trump
In response to the deaths of two American military personnel in the Iranian attack, US President Trump responded on Saturday night, calling it "a very sad thing."
"We don't want to see that happening. But this is for our country," Trump told reporters. He also stated that the US "will never" allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons.
Regarding Iran's announcement of suspending commitments related to the interim agreement, Trump said he "couldn't care less."
Trump had also warned that if Iran refuses to return to the negotiating table, the US will target bridges and power facilities in Iran in the next week.
