On July 17, 2026, the World Artificial Intelligence Conference and the High-level Meeting on Global Governance of Artificial Intelligence (2026 WAIC) opened in Shanghai. During the main forum, the National Development and Reform Commission, together with relevant departments, released the "China Wisdom Benefiting the World (2026)" case collection. WeRide, a leading autonomous driving technology company, launched its autonomous driving project in the UAE, which was selected as one of the top ten international cooperation cases in artificial intelligence technology and products in the "China Wisdom Benefiting the World (2026)" collection, and became the only autonomous driving company included. This year's top ten cases cover a wider range of regions and countries, focus on more diverse "AI +" cooperation scenarios, and demonstrate the deep integration of Chinese artificial intelligence with the actual needs of various countries, showcasing the Chinese wisdom and solutions of Chinese artificial intelligence empowering global development. This is also in line with the main theme of the 2026 WAIC to promote global AI cooperation. On the eve of the conference opening on July 16, the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization was established in Shanghai, with 29 countries becoming founding member countries, to establish a long-term multilateral cooperation mechanism to promote international cooperation in artificial intelligence and global governance. The significance of WeRide's UAE project lies in enabling China's L4 level autonomous driving technology to truly enter the traffic system of overseas cities, providing a benchmark practice for China to empower local transportation upgrades with AI. This selection not only reflects the operational effectiveness and demonstration value of the project locally but also demonstrates China's leading level of participation in global industrial cooperation in autonomous driving. Currently, WeRide's Robotaxi has achieved pure unmanned commercial operations in the two major emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Local users can call Robotaxi services with a click through the Uber platform, making WeRide the only company outside the US to provide pure unmanned Robotaxi services on the Uber platform. Over the past year, the company's scale operationalization of autonomous driving in the UAE has entered an accelerated stage. In October 2025, WeRide officially entered the third emirate of the UAE, Al Hayma, to start Robotaxi trial operations. In November of the same year, WeRide obtained the world's first city-level commercial license for L4 autonomous driving outside the US, and launched the first pure unmanned Robotaxi operation service in the Middle East in Abu Dhabi. Currently, WeRide's Robotaxi service covers approximately 70% of the core area of Abu Dhabi. In December 2025, WeRide's Robotaxi went online for public operation in Dubai and started pure unmanned commercial operations in February 2026. Currently, the company's autonomous driving products have been deployed in more than 40 cities in 12 countries, with licenses for autonomous driving in eight countries, and a global L4 fleet size of over 3000 vehicles. Beyond the UAE, WeRide has also launched Robotaxi public operations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Singapore, and further entered cities such as Madrid, Spain and Zurich, Switzerland, to continuously expand its global layout covering multiple regions, products, and scenarios.
