Microsoft Corporation (MSFT.US) announced that it will invest $2.5 billion to establish a new operating business unit called Microsoft Frontier Company, aimed at helping enterprise customers deploy and implement artificial intelligence (AI) solutions more efficiently, further strengthening its competitiveness in the enterprise AI services market.
Microsoft Corporation stated that Microsoft Frontier Company will deploy 6,000 industry experts and engineering technicians to customer sites, working together with enterprises to design, innovate, deploy, and continuously optimize large-scale AI systems. The company announced that Rodrigo Kede Lima will serve as the president of this new division. Lima previously led Microsoft Corporation's sales operations in the Americas and Asia.
Microsoft Corporation also revealed that the company has established collaboration with global partners such as Accenture Plc Class A (ACN.US), Kajet, Ernst & Young, Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and others to accelerate the implementation of enterprise AI projects through Forward Deployed Engineering teams.
Forward Deployed Engineering teams involve engineers and technical experts being deployed directly to customer business sites, customizing and deploying AI systems tailored to specific business processes.
The launch of this new business division by Microsoft Corporation comes at a time when major cloud computing companies are accelerating their competition for the enterprise AI implementation market.
Previously, Amazon.com, Inc.'s (AMZN.US) Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a $1 billion investment to establish a Forward Deployed Engineering team department, embedding engineers within enterprise customers who wish to deploy AI solutions.
Analysts believe that as generative AI enters the practical application stage, enterprise customers are no longer just focused on models and computing power, but are placing more emphasis on how to truly integrate AI into business processes, improve efficiency, and generate revenue. Microsoft Corporation's $2.5 billion investment in establishing Microsoft Frontier Company demonstrates its efforts to expand from AI infrastructure and software provider to enterprise AI implementation service provider.
