On June 30, the National Bureau of Statistics released the operating conditions of the China Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) in June 2026. In June, the manufacturing PMI was 50.3%, up 0.3 percentage points from the previous month, returning to the expansion range. By enterprise size, the PMI for large enterprises was 50.7%, down 0.4 percentage points from the previous month but still above the critical point; the PMI for medium-sized enterprises was 50.5%, up 1.9 percentage points from the previous month and above the critical point; the PMI for small enterprises was 48.2%, down 0.3 percentage points from the previous month and below the critical point.
From the classification index perspective, of the 5 classification indexes that make up the manufacturing PMI, the production index and new order index were above the critical point, while the raw material inventory index, employment index, and supplier delivery time index were all below the critical point.
The production index was 51.4%, up 0.2 percentage points from the previous month, indicating an acceleration in manufacturing production activities.
The new order index was 51.2%, up 1.3 percentage points from the previous month, indicating a recovery in manufacturing market demand.
The raw material inventory index was 48.4%, down 0.2 percentage points from the previous month, indicating a continued decline in the inventory of major raw materials in manufacturing.
The employment index was 48.5%, down 0.1 percentage points from the previous month, indicating a slight decline in the labor market sentiment of manufacturing enterprises.
The supplier delivery time index was 49.9%, up 0.7 percentage points from the previous month, still below the critical point, indicating a slight slowdown in the delivery time of raw materials suppliers in manufacturing.
Overall, the output index of the Comprehensive PMI in June was 50.6%, up 0.1 percentage points from the previous month, indicating a slight acceleration in the overall expansion of business production activities in China.
