The bank believes that the current World Cup will continue to divert part of the betting budget of Macau gamblers.
Citigroup released a research report stating that, according to industry sources, the gross gaming revenue in Macau for the first 21 days of June is estimated to be around 13.2 billion Macau patacas. The daily average operating rate is around 600 million Macau patacas, which is a decrease of approximately 18% compared to the daily average in May (around 729 million Macau patacas), but is about 2% higher than the week of June 8th (around 586 million Macau patacas). This trend is generally consistent with the observations from the latest casino table survey conducted by the bank. The bank believes that the ongoing World Cup will continue to divert some of the betting budgets of Macau gamblers. According to industry sources, VIP room betting volume has decreased by about 16% to 19% monthly, while mass market gaming revenue has decreased by about 12% to 15% monthly. The VIP room win rate appears to be higher than last week. Reflecting the latest trend in gaming revenue, the bank has lowered its forecast for June 2026 gaming revenue from 19 billion Macau patacas to 18.75 billion Macau patacas (down 11% year-on-year). This means that the daily average gaming revenue for the remaining days of this month needs to reach around 617 million Macau patacas.
