The Hong Kong Tourism Board plans to hold an overseas promotional event in Malaysia in August this year, introducing the diverse tourism resources of the Greater Bay Area to the local industry and attracting travelers to participate in the "one journey, multiple stops" tourism. As for the high-speed rail group ticket mechanism, Rosanna Law pointed out that the MTR Corporation will coordinate with mainland railway operating units to assist the tourism industry in reserving group tickets for travel to and from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station.
On June 17, Miss Yvonne Law, the Commissioner of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, replied to written inquiries from the Legislative Council saying that the Hong Kong Tourism Board plans to hold overseas promotional activities in Malaysia in August this year, introducing the diverse tourism resources of the Greater Bay Area to the local industry and attracting tourists to participate in "multi-stop" tours. As for the high-speed rail group ticket mechanism, Law stated that the MTR Corporation will coordinate with mainland railway operators to assist the tourism industry in reserving group tickets to and from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station. Last year, the number of non-mainland tourists entering Hong Kong through Hong Kong International Airport or by cruise exceeded 7.3 million, mainly from Taiwan Province of China, the Philippines, the United States, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Australia, Singapore, India, and the United Kingdom. During the same period, the number of non-mainland tourists entering through airports or seaports from mainland China exceeded 2.2 million, mainly from Taiwan Province of China, the United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, India, and the United Kingdom. Legislative Councilor Mr. Kenneth Leung raised written inquiries, focusing on the effectiveness of "multi-stop" tourism and whether the authorities will seek to increase the number of mainland entry/exit ports under the transit visa-free policy and propose the implementation of a group ticket mechanism to facilitate overseas travel agencies using the high-speed rail. Law stated that the Tourism Board actively collaborates with the Travel Industry Council to organize industry visits to mainland China and overseas. Last year, three times funding was provided to support the industry's visits to Harbin, Taiyuan, and Xi'an to explore local tourism resources and promote the development of "multi-stop" routes. In May last year, the Hong Kong Tourism Board, together with Hong Kong Airlines and the Chinese Tourist Office in Paris, organized industry visits for North American and French markets, and started cooperation with industry partners in major customer source markets such as North America and Europe from June onwards.
