On June 16, the Hong Kong Social Welfare Department released the latest figures on Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) cases. In May, there was a slight decrease of 81 cases in overall CSSA cases, similar to the numbers in April. By the end of May, the total number of CSSA cases was 194,367, with a total of 256,452 beneficiaries.
In terms of case categories, there was a 1.1% monthly decrease in low-income cases, with 1,258 cases. Permanent disability cases decreased by 0.3%, with 16,169 cases. Cases of elderly individuals decreased by 0.1%, with 111,605 cases.
Cases in the category of poor health increased by 0.2%, with 28,321 cases. Unemployment cases increased by 0.1%, with 15,181 cases. Single-parent cases remained stable, with 17,896 cases.
