Against the background of increasing ESG regulation worldwide and the comprehensive launch of China's "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan" outline, the sustainability report of enterprises is increasingly becoming a touchstone to test the strategic determination, innovation ability, and ecological coordination ability. On June 16, KPMG held the launch event of the 2026 "Our Impact Plan" report (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") at the KAMPUS Digital Intelligence World in Shanghai. "Our Impact Plan" (OIP for short in English) is KPMG's global framework, focusing on governance principles, people-oriented, caring for the earth, and achieving prosperity in four major areas, disclosing KPMG's progress and commitments. This plan integrates and summarizes the enterprise's mission, values, ESG strategy, and commitments at the operational level, forming an open and transparent annual progress report. The updated "Report" covers the relevant work of the previous fiscal year, clearly showing how KPMG creates positive value for employees, customers, social communities, and the global environment. The release event on that day adopted a combination of offline main venue and online live broadcast, with guests from all sides gathering to jointly explore how AI technology empowers sustainable development and jointly explore new paths for corporate social and environmental coordination. Zou Jun, Chairman of KPMG China, pointed out at the event that this year marks the sixth consecutive year that KPMG has released its annual ESG report. Currently, artificial intelligence is quietly integrating into various industries, and new productive forces centered on "artificial intelligence +" are becoming key drivers of high-quality development. In addition, our country is transitioning from "dual control of energy consumption" to "dual control of carbon emissions," constantly promoting the deepening of green and low-carbon development. Faced with complex and ever-changing geopolitical and economic situations, KPMG has always believed in the belief of "doing the most difficult things and planning for the most distant future." Actively responding to national strategies, KPMG integrates ESG concepts into the entire process of organizational operations and takes practical actions to create positive value for employees, customers, and the community. AI empowers carbon reduction actions and ESG value implementation: Returning to the human-centered practice path The roundtable dialogue session at the event, with guest speakers decoding cases and looking ahead to trends, was truly exciting. The dialogues revolved around the themes of "Exploring how to prepare for a sustainable future from the perspective of AI empowering employees, customers, and communities" and "Connecting a sustainable future - a new path of ecological synergy between enterprises, society, and the environment", inviting multiple guests from KPMG, the business community, and non-profit organizations to share cases and in-depth discussions on how to prepare for a sustainable future. In the first roundtable dialogue, the guests discussed AI sustainable top-level strategies, AI empowering employees - internal practices, AI empowering customers - business practices, AI empowering communities, and other topics. Liu Xiaoguang, Managing Partner of the Artificial Intelligence Transformation Office (AITO) at KPMG China, participating in the roundtable dialogue, stated that the AITO at KPMG is responsible for coordinating KPMG's AI strategy and capability building, promoting the deep application and empowerment of AI technology. Liu Xiaoguang believes that AI is not just an efficiency tool but also an important driver to achieve ESG goals. Enterprises and institutions can promote effective application of AI in various business lines by closely cooperating with functional departments and management teams to empower business and operational transformation. He also highlighted the internal AI tool platform "Xuanyuan Ki Chat" at KPMG - the platform has obtained the national "Information Security Technology - Network Security Level Protection" level three record and evaluation, providing employees with a secure and reliable AI tool environment. The other roundtable discussion that focused on "Connecting a sustainable future - a new path of ecological coordination between enterprises, society, and the environment" focused on sustainable development eco-cooperation, specifically on how to achieve ESG value implementation, such as emission reduction, and circular economy, and conducted in-depth discussions with overseas practice cases. Regarding ecological cooperation, the participating guests believe that to achieve ESG goals on a larger scale, the interaction between enterprises and social organizations is indispensable. Hu Yinghua, Partner of Environmental, Social, and Governance Services at KPMG China, moderated this roundtable forum, stating that in the context of the accelerating integration of climate risks and sustainable development, KPMG is committed to helping enterprises transform risks into resilience, driving long-term value creation with resilience. Relying on professional capabilities and leading ESG solutions, we are helping companies seize green development opportunities and move towards a low-carbon, resilient, and sustainable future together. KPMG has deeply integrated the concept of moving towards goodness into its own operations and customer service, and continues to participate in initiatives related to nature and biodiversity conservation, using practical actions to promote harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. The two roundtable discussions not only brought about a depth of views but also condensed industry development consensus, providing multidimensional thinking perspectives for the guests on-site: from AI empowering low-carbon transformation to landing, to the empowerment for internal employees, and to jointly building friendly communities, fully demonstrating the practice path that centers on serving people, driving social development, and practicing sustainable development. In the era of AI, the implementation of carbon reduction and ESG goals cannot solely rely on innovative applications of technological tools. Regardless of how the computing power ascends exponentially or the algorithms iterate to what height, what truly determines how far green development can go is always people's expectations for beauty, social responsibility on their shoulders, and empathy and goodwill between people. We need to think about how to deeply cooperate with enterprises and various sectors of society, use the power of technology to nourish people, connect people, and achieve people, to realize the dual advancement of business quality and social symbiosis; jointly create a green future with responsible AI, promote deep green transformation, this is the true significance of empowering sustainable development.
