During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday in 2026, it is expected that the daily number of entry and exit personnel at national ports will reach 2.2 million, an increase of 11.7% compared to last year's Dragon Boat Festival holiday. The single-day peak clearance volume will exceed 2.35 million.
The National Immigration Administration announced on June 16 that with the Dragon Boat Festival approaching, the country's ports will see a peak in inbound and outbound passenger flow. During the 2026 Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the daily average number of inbound and outbound passengers at national ports is expected to reach 2.2 million, an increase of 11.7% compared to last year's Dragon Boat Festival holiday. The highest daily customs clearance volume is expected to exceed 2.35 million people.
According to the National Immigration Administration's predictions, there will be a slight increase in inbound and outbound passenger flow at major airports. The daily average number of inbound and outbound passengers at international airports such as Shanghai Pudong, Beijing Capital, Guangzhou Baiyun, Shenzhen Baoan, Beijing Daxing, and Chengdu Tianfu are estimated to be 104,000, 52,000, 52,000, 21,000, 19,000, and 17,000 respectively. During the Dragon Boat Festival, the three regions of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau will host multiple dragon boat races and large-scale events, leading to an increase in cross-border tourism and visits to relatives. The border crossing traffic at adjacent land ports with Hong Kong and Macau is expected to significantly increase. Among them, the daily average number of inbound and outbound passengers at Shenzhen's Luohu, Futian, Shenzhen Bay, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail West Kowloon Station, and Liantang ports are expected to reach 260,000, 240,000, 200,000, 130,000, and 110,000 respectively. The daily average number of inbound and outbound passengers at Zhuhai's Gongbei, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Qingmao, and Hengqin ports are expected to reach 370,000, 122,000, 115,000, and 105,000 respectively.
Recently, the National Immigration Administration issued specific deployment instructions for border control inspections during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, requiring border control agencies across the country to strengthen monitoring of inbound and outbound traffic, conduct in-depth analysis and accurate assessment of port clearance passenger flow trends, timely issue warnings of peak passenger flow at the ports, provide references for the public's travel; organize inspections scientifically, open inspection channels to full capacity, strengthen on-site guidance, and ensure quick clearance for domestic and foreign passengers; closely cooperate and coordinate, strengthen emergency response, work with port joint inspection units to provide comprehensive support during peak periods, prevent possible adverse effects of extreme weather like heavy rainfall, and jointly ensure safe, efficient, and smooth port clearance.
The National Immigration Administration advises domestic and foreign travelers to pay attention to changes in port traffic and clearance status before traveling, carefully check the validity of entry and exit documents and visas; Chinese citizens should check the security situation and entry policies of their destination in advance when going abroad, to avoid traveling to countries and regions with risks of Ebola virus outbreaks. If encountering difficulties during the customs clearance process, travelers can call the National Immigration Administration's 12367 service hotline at any time or seek assistance from the immigration police on duty at the scene.
