Global launch of satellite communication IoT commercial solution, Smartmi Technology (06810) collaborates with SpaceX to serve non-Latin American users.
On June 12, in response to the pain points in industries such as Africa and Latin America where a lack of ground network coverage has led to a large number of commercial scenarios experiencing long-term disconnection and difficulty in implementing digital operations, the global commercial physical AI leader SenseTime Technology (06810) announced that, leveraging years of localized operational experience, it will collaborate with local developers and operators to globally launch the first IoT commercial solution supporting satellite communication.
With the landing of SpaceX on Nasdaq, commercial aerospace has officially entered the stage of commercialization on a large scale. Satellite internet is no longer a cutting-edge concept, but a globally popular new infrastructure for communication. On June 12th, facing the industry pain points of large commercial scenes being cut off from the internet for a long time and the difficulty of digital operations due to insufficient ground network coverage in regions such as Africa and Latin America, global commercial physical AI leader Sunmi Technology (06810) announced, relying on years of localization operating experience, joining hands with local developers and operators to globally debut a commercial solution supporting satellite communication for IoT.
The high infrastructure costs in regions such as Africa and Latin America make it difficult to deploy complete ground networks in many rural areas, mountainous regions, islands, forests, and even sea shipping routes. Many local commercial scenes, such as convenience stores, gas stations, cross-border transportation, and integrated facilities for light storage and charging, often face the dilemma of unstable and frequently disconnected networks. Payment collection, data synchronization, and light storage and charging services are difficult to operate normally, and the digitization and self-service operations remain challenging.
To address the above pain points, Sunmi combined its own Hyper Wi-Fi technology to globally debut the IoT solution that supports satellite communication, integrating satellite networks, long-distance local wireless communication technology, and commercial intelligent terminals to effectively solve the network, cost, and AI deployment challenges in specific regions. This solution is planned to be piloted in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
With SpaceX continuously iterating satellite networking technology, the coverage and stability of the global satellite internet will continue to improve, and the commercial IoT industry for satellites will also experience long-term growth. Sunmi believes that this is not a short-term trend, but a strategic layout that the company actively needs to embrace in deepening its overseas B-side market.
