It is understood that several accounts of this MCN had recently been intensively publishing false information about Lei Jun and Xiaomi Group. Since the beginning of this year, the competent authorities have been continuously strengthening the crackdown on rumors related to enterprises to create a clean public opinion space and purify the online business environment. In April, the Shanghai public security authorities cracked down on cases related to the use of AI technology to mass produce false rumors involving enterprises, providing a landmark case for the comprehensive cleaning of rumor information and urging AI companies to adhere to norms such as labeling generated information. On the same day that the MCN apologized, the Cyberspace Administration of China announced the launch of a two-month special operation nationwide, "Clear and Optimize Business Network Environment, Rectify Malicious Speculation on Enterprise Information," focusing on rectifying malicious speculation on enterprise information, AI-generated false information, online "black mouth" activities and other issues to optimize the business network environment. Using AI to generate false information related to enterprises, maliciously smearing and defaming enterprises and entrepreneurs, and hiring internet mercenaries to spread homogenized negative information related to enterprises will be key tasks.
