Recently, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange announced the data on China's external securities investment assets by country/region and by resident holders at the end of 2025. The statistics show that at the end of 2025, China's external securities investment assets (excluding reserve assets) were 1.9875 trillion US dollars. Among them, equity investments were 1.2628 trillion US dollars, and bond investments were 0.7247 trillion US dollars. The top five countries/regions in terms of asset distribution are Hong Kong, the United States, the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Islands, and the United Kingdom, with investment amounts of 0.9789 trillion US dollars, 0.3640 trillion US dollars, 0.1451 trillion US dollars, 0.652 trillion US dollars, and 0.485 trillion US dollars, respectively. At the end of 2025, the main departments in China holding external securities assets are non-bank financial institutions, banks, and non-financial departments, with investment amounts of 0.11087 trillion US dollars, 0.5667 trillion US dollars, and 0.3121 trillion US dollars, accounting for 56%, 29%, and 16% of China's total external securities investment, respectively.
