The Hong Kong government appoints Cheng Hark Yee as the chairman of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Corporation Board of Directors, effective July 1st.

On May 27, the Hong Kong SAR Government announced that the Chief Executive appointed Tsung Hiu-yee as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (Science Park Corporation), effective from July 1, 2026, for a term of two years, succeeding the current Chairman, Dr. Victor Cha, whose term expires on June 30, 2026.
On May 27, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced that Chief Executive has appointed Irene Cheung to be the Chairperson of Hong Kong Science Park Corporation (Science Park Corporation), effective from July 1, 2026 for a term of two years, to succeed Dr. Cheah Yi Chao, the current Chairperson of the Science Park Corporation, whose term will end on June 30, 2026. Irene Cheung has rich experience in multinational corporate management in the information technology sector. She has actively contributed to public service and served as a member of the Science Park Corporation Board of Directors from 2017 to 2023. Professor Alfred Sit, Secretary for Innovation and Technology, welcomed Irene Cheung's appointment as the new Chairperson of the Science Park Corporation Board of Directors. He stated that Ms. Cheung has extensive experience in innovation and technology (innotech) and under her leadership, the Science Park Corporation will continue to support the development of local innotech enterprises and create a more vibrant innotech ecosystem. Professor Alfred Sit also expressed sincere gratitude to the outgoing Chairperson Dr. Cheah Yi Chao for his significant contributions to the Science Park Corporation over the years. He mentioned that under Dr. Cheah's outstanding leadership, the Science Park Corporation has continued to improve its innotech infrastructure and support measures for technology enterprises, actively nurtured innotech talents, and promoted Hong Kong's innovation and industrial development, thereby enhancing Hong Kong's competitiveness as an international innotech center. Additionally, under his leadership, the Science Park Corporation has been conducting land use planning studies for the Lok Ma Chau Loop technology city as required by the government. Under the leadership of the new Chairperson, the government expects the Science Park Corporation to continue to fully support and cooperate with the development of the Lok Ma Chau Loop technology city, and closely coordinate with the upcoming establishment of the Lok Ma Chau Loop Technology City Company to strengthen the innotech ecosystem, attract enterprises and international talents. The government also announced that the Financial Secretary has appointed two new members to join the Science Park Corporation Board of Directors, and re-appointed seven current members, effective from July 1, 2026 for a term of two years. Professor Joseph Chan and Professor Mimi Mong have been appointed as new members of the Science Park Corporation Board of Directors. Joseph Chan, Jackie Chow, Ricky Hui, Ben Leung, Dr. Terry Tam, Lory Shing, and Henry Yong have been re-appointed as members of the Science Park Corporation Board of Directors. Professor Alfred Sit stated, "I am confident that with the rich experience and professional knowledge of the members of the Board of Directors in various fields, they will continue to effectively fulfill the public mission of the Science Park Corporation and promote the development of innotech in Hong Kong." The terms of office of the two current members of the Board of Directors, Professor Vivian Yam and Mr. Wong Wing Kwong will end on June 30 this year. Professor Alfred Sit also expressed sincere gratitude to the outgoing members for their valuable input and strong support for the development of innotech in Hong Kong over the past six years. Established in 2001, the Science Park Corporation is a statutory body fully owned by the government, providing quality infrastructure and support services for the development of innotech in Hong Kong. The Science Park Corporation is responsible for managing and operating the Hong Kong Science Park, three innovation parks, and innovation centers.
