"The era of 'AI fusion of all things' has arrived! From AI chat windows to full-scenario intelligent systems, Alphabet Inc. Class C (GOOGL.US) plans to embed Gemini into the Android ecosystem."
Before the major update of Apple's AI features, Google is planning to transform Gemini into the core intelligent layer of Android.
American technology giant Alphabet Inc. Class C (GOOGL.US) plans to use the latest Android system (i.e. Android system) for a major update, aiming to transform the global cutting-edge AI application tool Gemini from a simple AI chatbot Siasun Robot&Automation to the core operating layer covering intelligent smartphones, browser operating systems, smart driving systems for cars, and notebooks, wearable devices, and other Android terminal ecosystems. It is worth noting that Alphabet Inc. Class C's move comes as Apple Inc. is expected to showcase its Apple Intelligence-based Apple Intelligence heavy update and AI Siri super AI voice assistant at the WWDC (Developers Conference) in June, weeks before these preview features are completed.
Ahead of next week's Google I/O developer conference, the company previewed several major Android updates to investors, including AI-driven applications that are completely automated, a smarter Chrome browser on Android, new AI tools for creators, redesigned Android Auto for a more intelligent experience, and a range of new security features.
In recent years, Alphabet Inc. Class C under the Alphabet umbrella has relied on the Gemini AI super platform to help Alphabet Inc. Class C compete directly in the artificial intelligence large model and service market with OpenAI and Anthropic, while aiming to make Gemini the core brain of its wide product portfolio (including a range of Android-based terminal products) AI applications. At the same time, Gemini also provides a strong DRIVE for Apple Inc.'s new AI strategic plan, enabling Alphabet Inc. Class C to maintain a leading role in the competition in personal mode AI development dominated by the iPhone.
Intelligent systems and agent-based AI functions cover the Android ecosystem
Sameer Samat, who is in charge of the Android ecosystem, stated in a media interview that Alphabet Inc. Class C is redesigning certain core features of Android around Gemini Intelligence to help users complete daily tasks more easily. "We are transitioning from an operating system to a full intelligent system," he said.
As part of the announcement on Tuesday, Alphabet Inc. Class C stated that Gemini Intelligence will be able to achieve more personalized and precise operations across applications, understand screen content, and complete cross-app tasks that normally require users to switch between multiple services. This means that the Android operating system is surpassing the traditional intelligent assistant modelwhere users ask questions and get answersand becoming more like a customized artificial intelligence assistant focused on one-click agent workflows.
For example, Alphabet Inc. Class C stated that Gemini can extract relevant details from Gmail, quickly create a shopping cart, and make restaurant reservations. Samat gave an example, saying that Gemini can view the guest list for a barbecue dinner, create a menu, add ingredients to the Instacart list, and confirm with the user before checkout.
A major concern surrounding agent-based AI is the software taking action on behalf of users without permission. Samat stated that Gemini will return to the user for confirmation before completing transactions, adding, "Humans are always in the loop."
Just four months after announcing the Gemini agreement with Alphabet Inc. Class C, Apple Inc. still faces pressure, with users and investors expecting Apple Inc. to showcase a more powerful version of its AI capabilities with Apple Intelligence, as the product lags behind in the market. Apple Inc. has long viewed privacy, hardware integration, and user experience control as its strengths.
Apple Inc. is currently undergoing a thorough reconstruction of its Siri voice assistant based on cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology, and plans to unveil the first version of the long-awaited Siri AI voice assistant at its global developers conference in June this year. This restructuring comes in the backdrop of Apple Inc.'s exclusive AI feature, Apple Intelligence, facing hurdles. The new Siri features planned for release at WWDC in 2024 were never officially launched, and plans slated for spring 2025 were repeatedly delayed. The high-profile release of the new version of Siri is seen as a key countermove for Apple Inc. against competitors continuously updating and iterating, such as ChatGPT and Claude.
Regarding the Siri AI technology base, it will be provided by one of the world's leading AI models, Alphabet Inc. Class C's exclusive Gemini AI model. In January, the American technology giant Alphabet under Alphabet Inc. (Google) confirmed that it had reached a multi-year agreement with Apple Inc., the leading consumer electronics manufacturer owning the globally popular iPhone and iPad series (AAPL.US), to provide core AI model support for the iPhone smartphone brands on-device AI technology, including Siri AI voice assistant updated with new AI features after the upgrade.
This AI partnership is considered a major positive development for both parties, as Apple Inc.'s Siri finally sees a breakthrough in AI-based transformation, leading Alphabet Inc. Class C's parent company Alphabet (GOOGL.US) to reach a market cap of over $4 trillion for the first time, propelled by the multi-year agreement with Apple Inc., making it the second-largest company in the world by market cap, only behind NVIDIA Corporation ($4.5 trillion).
In the vision of Siri updates and iterations envisioned by Apple enthusiasts, backed by cloud and on-device AI models, Siri's positioning may no longer be just a formal voice assistant, but has the potential to become a "personal AI assistant" more in line with users' personal needs, similar to the "all-encompassing AI companion" in the movie "HER." Apple Inc. has stated that the updated version of Siri voice assistant will be able to utilize users' personal information to answer questions and perform actions in various applications.
Alphabet Inc. Class C's progress in AI penetration within the Android ecosystem aims to demonstrate its ability to integrate the most cutting-edge AI technology more deeply into the device experience, while still allowing users to control what Gemini can see, operate, and when confirmation is needed.
The preview report from Alphabet Inc. Class C shows that one-click fully automated app functions will be rolled out in stages, starting with the latest Samsung Galaxy and Alphabet Inc. Class C Pixel smartphones this summer, then expanding to more Android system terminal consumer electronics devices, including watches, cars, glasses, and laptops.
The company has also redesigned Android Auto around Gemini, making electric vehicles another major use case for Gemini AI assistants. Android Auto has been deployed in over 250 million vehicles, and Alphabet Inc. Class C states that this new version includes the largest-scale map service update in ten years, and offers a range of cutting-edge AI features driven by Gemini, such as completing tasks like ordering food through a voice AI assistant while driving.
From being an "AI underdog" to an all-around player, Alphabet Inc. Class C's parent company Alphabet is quietly approaching the world's highest market capitalization throne
There is no doubt that Alphabet Inc. Class C's parent company Alphabet's grand strategic moves around AI applications, especially the successful integration of Gemini into Alphabet Inc. Class C's cloud computing ecosystem, YouTube, search engine, and enterprise AI daily workstream strategy, have garnered positive recognition from Wall Street institutional investors, driving the company's stock price to rise over 140% in the past year, compared to Apple Inc.'s approximately 40% increase during the same period. Investors now look forward to seeing how Gemini can become the core AI in daily use products for people, the so-called "AI integration of all things in the world."
Within the past year, Alphabet Inc. Class C under the Alphabet umbrella has transformed from an "AI outsider" to an "AI winner," with strong stock performance, rapidly catching up to NVIDIA Corporation in terms of market capitalization. The company holds a central position in several key aspects of the AI ecosystem, such as the in-house TPU chip, cloud computing, search advertising, YouTube, and autonomous driving Waymo, providing it with cross-business, multi-source revenue capabilities. Institutional investors have significantly increased their confidence in the company, with Wall Street analysts substantially raising profit expectations for 2026 to 2027 in the past month, with net profit expectations for 2026 raised by about 19%, indicating market recognition of Alphabet's continued deployment in the AI field.
In terms of market capitalization, Alphabet has narrowed the gap with NVIDIA Corporation from over $1.5 trillion to about $400 billion in the past six months, showing its strong performance in the capital markets and valuation drive. Although NVIDIA Corporation still holds a leading position in the AI chip field, Alphabet has gradually opened up its TPU chip to Alphabet Inc. Class C cloud customers and its AI infrastructure, while through the Gemini model and Anthropic investment layout, has formed a fully-chain AI ecosystem covering from chips, models to applications, giving it the potential to become the biggest winner of the AI era.
However, there seems to be some limitations on further stock price increases. The current stock price corresponds to approximately 28 times expected earnings per share, although not reaching extreme levels seen during the internet bubble, it is higher than the 10-year average and approaching historical highs since 2008. In addition, Gemini and other top AI models continue to face competition pressure, with market sentiments around AI applications and AI computing infrastructure changing rapidly, meaning investors must be wary of short-term volatility and potential risks. Nevertheless, from a long-term value perspective, Alphabet's comprehensive ecosystem layout and multi-source revenue model still provide a solid foundation for long-term growth, and gaining the favor of value investors like Berkshire Hathaway further strengthens its market signal.
