On May 8, the China Passenger Car Association released the latest vehicle market scan. According to preliminary statistics by the China Passenger Car Association, from April 1-30, the national retail sales of passenger cars totaled 1.406 million, a year-on-year decrease of 20% from the same period last year and a decrease of 15% from the previous month. The cumulative retail sales for the year reached 5.628 million, a year-on-year decrease of 18%. From April 1-30, national passenger car manufacturers wholesaled 2.13 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 3% from the same period last year and a decrease of 10% from the previous month. The year-to-date wholesale total reached 7.997 million, a decrease of 6% year-on-year. In April, the national retail sales of new energy passenger cars reached 883,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 5% from the same period last year and an increase of 4% from the previous month. The cumulative retail sales for the year reached 2.792 million, a year-on-year decrease of 17%. From April 1-30, national passenger car manufacturers wholesaled 1.22 million new energy vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 7% from the same period last year and an increase of 7% from the previous month. The year-to-date wholesale total reached 3.949 million units, a decrease of 1% year-on-year. Penetration rate: From April 1-30, the national retail penetration rate for new energy passenger cars was 62.8%; from April 1-30, the national wholesale penetration rate for new energy passenger cars was 57.3%. Production: In the first five weeks of April, national production of pure fuel light vehicles was 629,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 32% from the same period last year and a decrease of 30% from the previous month. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid overall production was 305,000 units in the first five weeks of April, a year-on-year decrease of 20% from the same period last year and a decrease of 11% from the previous month.
