On May 3, 2026, the total cross-regional population flow in the whole society was 30,056.4 million person-times, an increase of 1% compared to the previous month and an increase of 3.7% year-on-year. The railway passenger volume was 1859.8 million person-times, a decrease of 6% compared to the previous month and an increase of 2.5% year-on-year.
On May 4th, the Ministry of Transport announced that on May 3rd, 2026, the total inter-regional passenger travel volume in the whole society was 300.564 million, an increase of 1% compared to the previous period and 3.7% compared to the same period last year. Railway passenger volume was 18.598 million, a decrease of 6% compared to the previous period, and an increase of 2.5% compared to the same period last year. The total road passenger flow (including non-business small passenger car travel volume on highways and ordinary national and provincial roads, and road passenger transport volume) was 278.13 million, an increase of 1.6% compared to the previous period and 4% compared to the same period last year. Among them, road passenger transport volume was 39.11 million, a decrease of 0.7% compared to the previous period, and an increase of 14.8% compared to the same period last year; the non-business small passenger car travel volume on highways and ordinary national and provincial roads was 239.02 million, an increase of 1.9% compared to the previous period, and an increase of 2.4% compared to the same period last year. Waterway passenger volume was 1.985 million, a decrease of 5.3% compared to the previous period, and a decrease of 7.7% compared to the same period last year. Air passenger volume was 1.851 million, a decrease of 4% compared to the previous period, and a decrease of 11.8% compared to the same period last year. The national postal industry received 480 million packages, an increase of 1.3% compared to the previous period; delivered 467 million packages, a decrease of 5.3% compared to the previous period.
