Lithium battery concept stocks are all surging. As of the time of writing, CATL (03750) rose 8.7% to 712.5 Hong Kong dollars; Ganfeng Lithium (01772) rose 5.48% to 82.75 Hong Kong dollars; BYD (01211) rose 4.29% to 111.9 Hong Kong dollars; and Tianqi Lithium (09696) rose 3.34% to 55.65 Hong Kong dollars.
Concept stocks of lithium batteries surged across the board, as of press time, Contemporary Amperex Technology (03750) rose by 8.7% to 712.5 Hong Kong dollars; Ganfeng Lithium Group (01772) rose by 5.48% to 82.75 Hong Kong dollars; BYD COMPANY (01211) rose by 4.29% to 111.9 Hong Kong dollars; Tianqi Lithium Corporation (09696) rose by 3.34% to 55.65 Hong Kong dollars. On the news front, in the first quarter of 2026, the lithium battery industry showed the characteristic of "off-season not weak". According to the latest data released by the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance, the cumulative sales of power and energy storage batteries in China from January to March this year reached 437.1GWh, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 52.9%, with energy storage battery sales increasing by as much as 111.8% year-on-year; in addition, production of power and energy storage batteries in China during the same period also increased by 49.3% year-on-year. Looking ahead to the second quarter of 2026, China Great Wall released a research report stating that the demand for power and energy storage is expected to continue to grow rapidly compared to the previous quarter. With the market price of lithium carbonate returning to over 15,000 yuan/ton, and downstream demand for power and energy storage remaining strong, the industry chain is expected to enter a pricing cycle. In addition, membrane prices may gradually rise, marking a key turning point in supply and demand reversal.
