In the first quarter, the national per capita disposable income of residents was 12,782 yuan, a nominal increase of 4.9% over the same period last year, and a real increase of 4.0% after deducting price factors.
On April 16, the National Bureau of Statistics released the data on residents' income and consumption expenditure for the first quarter of 2026. In the first quarter, the per capita disposable income of residents nationwide was 12,782 yuan, a nominal increase of 4.9% from the same period last year, and a real increase of 4.0% after deducting price factors. In urban areas, the per capita disposable income of urban residents was 16,549 yuan, increasing by 4.2% (nominal) and 3.2% (real); while the per capita disposable income of rural residents was 7,433 yuan, increasing by 6.1%, and 5.4% (real).
In terms of income sources, in the first quarter, the per capita wage income of residents nationwide was 7,319 yuan, increasing by 4.9% and accounting for 57.3% of disposable income; the per capita net operating income was 2,207 yuan, increasing by 6.6% and accounting for 17.3% of disposable income; the per capita net property income was 1,031 yuan, increasing by 1.6% and accounting for 8.1% of disposable income; and the per capita net transfer income was 2,225 yuan, increasing by 5.1% and accounting for 17.4% of disposable income.
The median per capita disposable income nationwide in the first quarter was 10,433 yuan, a 5.0% increase, with the median value being 81.6% of the average. In urban areas, the median per capita disposable income was 14,038 yuan, increasing by 4.4%, with the median value being 84.8% of the average; in rural areas, the median per capita disposable income was 5,909 yuan, increasing by 6.0%, with the median value being 79.5% of the average.
Regarding consumption expenditure, in the first quarter, the per capita consumption expenditure of residents nationwide was 7,955 yuan, a nominal increase of 3.6% from the same period last year, and a real increase of 2.6% after deducting price factors. In urban areas, the per capita consumption expenditure of urban residents was 9,635 yuan, increasing by 2.9% (nominal) and 2.0% (real); while the per capita consumption expenditure of rural residents was 5,569 yuan, increasing by 4.4%, and 3.7% (real).
The per capita expenditure on food, tobacco, and alcohol was 2,549 yuan, accounting for 32.0% of total consumption expenditure; on clothing, 526 yuan, accounting for 6.6%; on housing, 1,611 yuan, accounting for 20.3%; on daily necessities and services, 442 yuan, accounting for 5.6%; on transportation and communication, 1,079 yuan, accounting for 13.6%; on education, culture, and entertainment, 843 yuan, accounting for 10.6%; on medical care, 645 yuan, accounting for 8.1%; and on other goods and services, 260 yuan, accounting for 3.3%.
