Hong Kong International Airport has once again been ranked as the world's busiest cargo airport, with a cargo volume of 5.07 million metric tons in the year. This marks the 15th time since 2010 that it has topped the global cargo airport rankings.
The Airports Council International has announced the full-year data for 2025, with Hong Kong International Airport retaining its position as the world's busiest cargo airport. The annual cargo volume reached 5.07 million metric tons, marking the 15th time since 2010 that it has topped the global cargo airport rankings.
Ms. Vivian Cheung, Chief Executive Officer of the Airport Authority Hong Kong, expressed gratitude for Hong Kong International Airport once again becoming the world's busiest cargo airport. She thanked the aviation cargo industry for their collective efforts and various government departments for their strong support, allowing them to continuously enhance their capabilities in handling high-value cargo, e-commerce fulfillment, and cross-border transshipment. In the face of fierce competition within the region and uncertain global economic factors, she emphasized their commitment to enhancing competitiveness and exploring new areas for air cargo business expansion.
It is reported that Hong Kong International Airport has continuously introduced new measures to further consolidate its cargo handling capabilities. UPS will commence construction of its new hub project at Hong Kong International Airport in March 2026, and it is expected to be completed by 2028, with the facility able to handle close to 1 million metric tons of cargo annually.
The Airport Authority Hong Kong is leading the digitalization of the air cargo supply chain to enhance efficiency and develop value-added services. The award-winning digital platform "HKIA Cargo Data Platform" and "HKIA Cargo Connect" promote industry collaboration, innovation, intelligence, and interconnectedness, fostering new business opportunities and partnerships.
