In March, the Exchange Fund's overseas assets decreased by 59.5 billion Hong Kong dollars to 3,570.6 billion Hong Kong dollars. The monetary base was 2,065 billion Hong Kong dollars, including promissory notes, government-issued circulating banknotes and coins, bank system balances, and issued Exchange Fund bills and bonds. The Exchange Fund's total claims on the Hong Kong private sector were 393.5 billion Hong Kong dollars. The total external liabilities were 78.8 billion Hong Kong dollars.
