On April 8th, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Cyberspace Administration of China, and other three departments jointly held a guidance meeting on internet platform price compliance. The meeting aimed to guide internet platform companies in implementing the Internet Platform Price Behavior Rules, to strengthen their responsibilities, and to regulate price competition behavior. The Rules will officially come into effect on April 10th. During the meeting, some platform companies were notified of pricing compliance issues and were required to rectify them immediately, establish a sound pricing compliance mechanism, consciously maintain market order, and effectively prevent illegal pricing behaviors. The meeting emphasized the need for platform companies to regulate subsidy practices, resolutely curb malicious price competition, refrain from false or exaggerated advertising of subsidies, fully respect the autonomy of pricing by operators within the platform, strictly prohibit interference with pricing decisions, and not force or indirectly force operators within the platform to participate in promotions at their own expense. They were also urged to adhere to principles of integrity in business operations, vigorously protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers, not charge any undisclosed fees, and refrain from engaging in deceptive promotions or price fraud. The market regulation department will implement the decisions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, continuously strengthen supervision of price competition, crack down on "inside-out" competition, effectively safeguard a fair competitive market environment, and promote the formation of a market order characterized by high quality, reasonable prices, and healthy competition.
