In January and February, the added value of the electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size increased by 14.2% year on year, with growth rates higher than those of the industrial sector and high-tech manufacturing industry in the same period by 7.9 and 1.1 percentage points, respectively.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the operating conditions of the electronic information manufacturing industry in January-February 2026. In January-February 2026, China's electronic information manufacturing industry saw rapid production growth, a recovery in exports, significant improvement in efficiency, accelerated investment growth, and a generally positive development trend for the industry as a whole. In January-February, the value added of the electronic information manufacturing industry above a designated size increased by 14.2% year-on-year, with growth rates being 7.9 and 1.1 percentage points higher than the industrial and high-tech manufacturing sectors during the same period, respectively.
1. Rapid Production Growth
In January-February, the value added of the electronic information manufacturing industry above a designated size increased by 14.2% year-on-year, with growth rates being 7.9 and 1.1 percentage points higher than the industrial and high-tech manufacturing sectors during the same period, respectively. Among the main products, there were 223 million mobile phones produced, a year-on-year growth of 7.7%, with 187 million smartphones produced, a year-on-year growth of 13.7%; 41.96 million units of microcomputer equipment produced, a year-on-year decrease of 7.9%; and 81.5 billion integrated circuits produced, a year-on-year growth of 12.4%.
2. Export Recovery
In January-February, the cumulative export delivery value of the electronic information manufacturing industry above a designated size increased by 1.2% year-on-year, an improvement of 1.2 percentage points compared to the full year of 2025. According to customs statistics, in January-February, China exported 17.33 million laptops, a year-on-year decrease of 22%; 1.12 billion mobile phones, a year-on-year increase of 3%; and 52.5 billion integrated circuits, a year-on-year increase of 13.7%.
3. Significant Improvement in Efficiency
In January-February, the electronic information manufacturing industry above a designated size achieved an operating income of 2.63 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%; operating costs of 2.27 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.9%; and a total profit of 107.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.04 times.
4. Accelerated Investment Growth
In January-February, fixed asset investment in the electronic information manufacturing industry increased by 1.2% year-on-year, an increase of 4.4 percentage points compared to the full year of 2025, but 4.2 percentage points lower than the industrial investment growth rate during the same period.
5. Faster Income Growth in Central Regions
In January-February, the electronic information manufacturing industry above a designated size achieved operating income of 1845.2 billion yuan in the eastern region, a year-on-year increase of 12.3%; 492.8 billion yuan in the central region, a year-on-year increase of 28.4%; 280.5 billion yuan in the western region, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%; and 12.8 billion yuan in the northeastern region, a year-on-year decrease of 3.1%.
