Washington, April 6 (Xinhua) - President Trump claimed at a press conference at the White House on the 6th that the Strait of Hormuz tolls should be collected by the United States, not Iran.
When asked how to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said that reopening the Strait of Hormuz must be part of a plan to end the conflict. "There must be an agreement that I can accept, and one of the contents of this agreement is to ensure the free passage of oil and all kinds of goods."
He reiterated that the United States has already defeated Iran militarily, so the "victor should have the spoils," and said that it should be the United States, not Iran, who charges passage fees for ships passing through the strait. "Why don't we charge? We are the winners."
A spokesman for the Iranian Armed Forces' Central Headquarters, Hatam Anbia, issued a statement later on the 6th, saying that Trump is full of "delusions," and that his disrespectful and arrogant words, as well as baseless threats, cannot make up for the "humiliation" suffered by the United States in the Middle East region.
