Broadcom Inc. (AVGO.US) Executive Management Changes: Alphabet Inc. Class C (GOOGL.US) veteran finance executive Amie Thuener will take on the role of CFO.
Broadcom Corporation has appointed Amie Thuener, Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer of Google's parent company Alphabet, as the company's next CFO.
On April 2 (Thursday) local time, Broadcom Inc., a global leader in semiconductor and software infrastructure, officially appointed Amie Thuener, Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer of Alphabet Inc. Class C, the parent company of Google (GOOGL.US), as the next Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the company. According to Broadcom Inc.'s succession plan, Thuener will officially join the company on May 4, 2026, and take over from the current CFO Kirsten M. Spears on June 12 of the same year. To ensure a smooth transition of financial responsibilities, Spears, who has been with Broadcom Inc. for 12 years, will continue to serve as a company advisor for a term of nine months after stepping down.
This significant personnel change comes at a crucial time for Broadcom Inc. as it aggressively targets the AI semiconductor market. 49-year-old Amie Thuener has a wealth of experience in financial governance and capital operations, having served as Vice President, Corporate Director, and Chief Accounting Officer at Alphabet since 2018, deeply involved in the financial strategic layout of Alphabet Inc. Class C in its AI transformation process.
Prior to joining Alphabet Inc. Class C, she served as Managing Director at the global accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Broadcom Inc. CEO Hock Tan emphasized in his evaluation of this appointment that Thuener possesses outstanding experience in complex financial reporting, corporate governance, and AI-related large-scale transactions, aligning well with Broadcom Inc.'s current global expansion strategy.
According to regulatory filings submitted by Broadcom Inc. to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), in order to attract this Silicon Valley financial elite, Broadcom Inc. offered a highly attractive compensation package. Thuener's base annual salary upon joining is set at $700,000, and includes a one-time cash sign-on bonus of $1 million.
The more core incentive part comes in the form of equity awards. She will receive restricted stock (RSU) and performance stock units (PSU) worth tens of millions of dollars, with most of the incentives directly linked to Broadcom Inc.'s total shareholder return (TSR) metrics over the next three to five years. This compensation structure clearly conveys the Board of Directors' expectation for the new CFO to continue driving market value growth.
Under Hock Tan's leadership, Broadcom Inc. has become a key pillar of the AI computing expenditure boom. As of April 2026, with strong demand for custom AI chips (ASIC) and Ethernet networking equipment, the company's market value has soared to around $1.49 trillion, with a revenue growth rate of up to 25% over the past year. According to Wall Street forecasts, this wave of orders will drive sales growth of over 60% to over $100 billion in the current fiscal year.
It was also disclosed that chip maker Intel Corporation (INTC.US) appointed Aparna Bawa, a senior executive at Zoom Video Communications (ZM.US), as the Chief Legal and Human Resources Officer. Bawa previously served as Chief Operating Officer at Zoom.
