At the end of 2025, China's external financial assets were $11.786 trillion, its external liabilities were $7.7147 trillion, and its net external assets were $4.0713 trillion.
On March 27, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange announced the International Investment Position of China by the end of 2025. By the end of 2025, China's foreign financial assets amounted to 11.786 trillion US dollars, foreign liabilities amounted to 7.7147 trillion US dollars, and the net foreign assets were 4.0713 trillion US dollars.
Among the foreign financial assets, direct investment assets were 3.5787 trillion US dollars, securities investment assets were 1.9875 trillion US dollars, financial derivative assets were 0.261 trillion US dollars, other investment assets were 2.4494 trillion US dollars, and reserve assets were 3.7443 trillion US dollars, accounting for 30%, 17%, 0.2%, 21%, and 32% of foreign financial assets respectively. Among foreign liabilities, direct investment liabilities were 3.9819 trillion US dollars, securities investment liabilities were 2.3507 trillion US dollars, financial derivative liabilities were 0.242 trillion US dollars, and other investment liabilities were 1.358 trillion US dollars, accounting for 52%, 30%, 0.3%, and 18% of foreign liabilities respectively.
In terms of SDR valuation, by the end of 2025, China's foreign financial assets amounted to 86.06 trillion SDR, foreign liabilities amounted to 56.332 trillion SDR, and the net foreign assets were 29.728 trillion SDR.
