The UAE restarts its main gas plant to resume domestic LNG production due to low production while the strait is blocked.
According to informed sources, the United Arab Emirates has resumed operations at its largest domestic natural gas processing plant. The facility is a key hub for meeting most of the domestic gas needs in the UAE and was forced to shut down last week due to an attack.

The sources also stated that the UAE's only operating liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant on Das Island in the Persian Gulf is currently running at very low capacity as it is unable to export through the Strait of Hormuz. The plant, with an annual production capacity of 6 million tonnes, has not been fully shut down so that it can quickly restart once the strait reopens, although the specific operating capacity was not disclosed by the sources.
As the conflict in Iran escalates, energy facilities along the Persian Gulf coast have been repeatedly attacked. Major oil-producing countries have been forced to reduce production, refineries have been shut down, and Qatar's largest LNG export terminal has also been "severely damaged." The focus is now on U.S. President Trump's 48-hour ultimatum to Iran - if Iran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz, it will face strikes on its power plants; while Tehran has threatened retaliatory strikes on all energy assets in the region.
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc Gas Plc), which operates the Habshan gas processing facility and the Das Island LNG plant, stated on Monday that temporary operational adjustments have been made to LNG production in response to shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. The company is negotiating individual transactions with customers and partners to fulfill supply commitments as best as possible.
The sources stated that the resumption of operations at the Habshan processing facility, combined with gas imports from Qatar through the Dolphin pipeline, has ensured an ample supply of natural gas to the domestic gas network in the UAE.
