The National Medical Insurance Administration announced on March 22 that on March 13, 2026, the world's first invasive brain-machine interface medical device was officially approved for market. On March 15, the National Medical Insurance Administration proactively connected and provided front-line services, completing the medical insurance coding for the product, successfully bridging the crucial link from approval to clinical application for innovative products, marking the brain-machine interface industry transitioning from the "planning blueprint" to the "implementation fast lane". The National Medical Insurance Administration has always strongly supported the high-quality development of innovative medical devices. In response to the cutting-edge field of brain-machine interfaces, the medical insurance department has early layout and proactive planning, pre-launching a series of empowerment measures. In March 2025, guidelines for the establishment of neurological medical service price projects were issued, specifically setting up invasive and non-invasive brain-machine interface related price projects, paving the way for new technologies to enter clinical applications in terms of fees.
