On March 20th, the State Post Bureau announced the operating situation of the postal industry in January and February 2026. In January and February, the total business revenue of the postal industry (excluding the direct operating revenue of postal savings banks) reached 291.98 billion yuan, an increase of 7.4% year-on-year. Among them, the total revenue of the express delivery business reached 238.54 billion yuan, an increase of 7.9% year-on-year.
In January and February, the total volume of postal services in the postal industry reached 33.14 billion pieces, an increase of 5.6% year-on-year. Among them, the total volume of express delivery services reached 30.49 billion pieces, an increase of 7.1% year-on-year.
In terms of business type, in January and February, the total volume of intra-city express delivery services reached 2.13 billion pieces, a decrease of 4.8% year-on-year; the total volume of inter-city express delivery services reached 27.68 billion pieces, an increase of 8.2% year-on-year; and the total volume of international/Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan express delivery services reached 0.68 billion pieces, an increase of 2%.
In January and February, the proportions of intra-city, inter-city, and international/Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan express delivery services in the total volume were 7.0%, 90.8%, and 2.2%, respectively. Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of intra-city express delivery services decreased by 0.9 percentage points, the proportion of inter-city express delivery services increased by 1.0 percentage point, and the proportion of international/Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan services decreased by 0.1 percentage point.
In January and February, the proportions of express delivery business revenue in the eastern, central, and western regions were 72.6%, 16.2%, and 11.2%, respectively, and the proportions of express delivery volume were 68.0%, 21.3%, and 10.7%, respectively. Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of express delivery business revenue in the eastern region decreased by 0.9 percentage points, and the proportion of express delivery volume decreased by 3.2 percentage points; the proportion of express delivery business revenue in the central region increased by 0.5 percentage points, and the proportion of express delivery volume increased by 1.7 percentage points; the proportion of express delivery business revenue in the western region increased by 0.4 percentage points, and the proportion of express delivery volume increased by 1.5 percentage points.
In January and February, the brand concentration index CR8 for express delivery business revenue was 87.3, and the brand concentration index CR8 for express delivery volume was 95.9.
