NVIDIA (NVDA.US) CEO Jensen Huang said that technology leaders need to be cautious and not let people feel fearful about artificial intelligence.
NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US) CEO Jensen Huang responded to how Anthropic PBC should better handle confusing contract negotiations with the Pentagon, stating that tech leaders need to be careful not to instill fear in people about artificial intelligence. During a technical conference call at the company, Huang said, "It is great to warn people about the capabilities of this technology," "Warning is good, but intimidation is not, because this technology is too important for us." The core of this suggestion comes from Huang's belief that the biggest national security risk the United States faces in the AI field is the slow adoption of this technology due to anger, fear, or paranoia. As the main customer of NVIDIA Corporation and developer of the chatbot Siasun Robot & Automation Claude, Anthropic is currently in conflict with the Trump administration because the company hopes to impose restrictions on the military use of its AI tools. Last month, the relationship between Anthropic and the Pentagon broke down because CEO Dario Amodei insisted on banning the use of their products for domestic surveillance of Americans and fully automatic weapons in the contract terms. In response, the Trump administration declared Anthropic a supply chain risk and took action to ban them from government work. The company is currently taking legal action against these measures. Despite the controversy, Huang remains optimistic about Anthropic's financial prospects. During the conference call, he stated that he believes Anthropic's revenue could exceed $1 trillion by 2030. He also added that he believes Amodei's predictions have been conservative. When asked specifically how he would respond if he were on the board of Anthropic, Huang first expressed admiration for the company, including its focus on security and protection, and then stated that the industry must be careful not to incite unnecessary fear about AI tools. "It is not alive, not an alien, not conscious. It is computer software," Huang said. "Saying extremely extreme, catastrophic, and unsubstantiated things that may cause more damage than people imagine." Huang stated that AI manufacturing supply chains should be diversified and mentioned locations in South Korea, Japan, and within the United States. "We must ensure rapid reindustrialization in the United States as quickly as possible," he said. Huang also expressed support for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Sponsored ADR (TSM.US) for building a factory in Arizona, stating that the company's professional technology "deserves our friendship and support". Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Sponsored ADR is the largest manufacturer of chips designed by NVIDIA Corporation.
