The main oil hub in the UAE has suspended loading, and the number of war-related shutdown events continues to increase.
According to a shipping agent and a source familiar with the matter, the main port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates has suspended oil loading. This is the latest shutdown on the country's only crude oil export route outside the Strait of Hormuz, following a series of attacks related to the conflict. According to information released by the shipping services company, Inchcape Shipping Services, the loading and unloading berths at Fujairah Oil Tanker Terminals were halted on Tuesday morning. The terminal mainly handles liquid cargo, including fuel. The information also indicated that the terminal operated in partnership with Koninklijke Vopak NV has also suspended its operations at its offshore berths. This contradicts a report from Monday night, which claimed that the oil tanker terminal had partially resumed operations. A source close to the project also stated that the loading of crude oil by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company at the port is still suspended. Fujairah is an important hub for crude oil and fuel, and its significance to the UAE and global markets is growing due to its location outside the Strait of Hormuz, which is almost completely closed due to the conflict. A source familiar with the matter stated on Tuesday that a liquefied petroleum gas tanker flying the Kuwaiti flag was struck by drone fragments near Fujairah, resulting in minor damage.
