The number of aircraft movements was 32,100, a year-on-year increase of 10.5%. The cargo volume in the month increased by 11.6% to 361,000 tonnes. On February 22, the daily passenger traffic at Hong Kong International Airport exceeded 210,000, reaching its peak during the Lunar New Year holiday. In the first two months of this year, the passenger traffic and aircraft movements at Hong Kong Airport increased by 11.7% and 6.2% respectively compared to the same period last year, reaching 10.93 million passengers and 66,545 aircraft movements. The increase in total passenger traffic in January and February was mainly driven by a 30% increase in transit passengers. During this period, the passenger traffic between mainland China and Southeast Asia recorded the most significant increase. The cargo volume in the first two months increased by 8.2% to 776,000 tonnes. The overall increase in cargo volume was mainly driven by a 17% increase in transshipment cargo; export cargo volume also increased by 7%. The most significant increases in cargo volume were seen in trade routes with Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
