Recently, the Cyberspace Administration of China deployed a special action called "Clear and Bright 2026 - Creating a Happy and Harmonious Spring Festival Online Environment" to urge website platforms to focus on rectifying issues such as maliciously inciting negative emotions, using AI to generate and spread "digital garbage," fabricating and disseminating false information, and diverting traffic for illegal activities, actively creating a festive and harmonious online atmosphere for the Spring Festival. As of now, more than 39,000 accounts have been disposed of in accordance with the law and regulations, and more than 708,000 pieces of illegal and irregular information have been cleared. The following are some typical cases that have been reported: 1. Accounts such as "Heartbeat Archive" maliciously incite negative emotions by using controversial topics. Weibo accounts such as "Heartbeat Archive," WeChat accounts such as "Teacher Zang Business Consulting," and Xiaohongshu accounts such as "Kuang Shaojian" promote negative values and maliciously incite gender conflicts. Douyin accounts such as "Morning Morning Cute" and "Min Xi" use the pretext of showing off Spring Festival red envelopes and comparing the quality of New Year goods to publish content that flaunts wealth and provokes comparison and antagonism. The relevant accounts have been dealt with in accordance with the law. 2. Accounts such as "Back To Shore.." divert traffic for illegal activities and profit from it. WeChat accounts such as "Back To Shore..," Kuaishou accounts such as "Dong An," and Weibo accounts such as "Bubble Sports" predict game results and analyze sports events for betting activities, lure traffic illegally, and provide paid consultations. Douyin accounts such as "Xingfen's Feel" and Xiaohongshu accounts such as "Excessive Sugar" release suggestive text and images under topics like "city dating" and "finding physiological partners," leading users to privately contact them and engage in pornographic activities. The relevant accounts have been dealt with in accordance with the law. 3. Accounts such as "Fat Grandpa Ai" generate and spread "digital garbage" and other junk information, disrupting the online ecosystem. Kuaishou accounts such as "Fat Grandpa Ai" and Douyin accounts such as "Couple Bed Breaking Diary" use AI to produce and spread illogical and highly similar low-quality content such as "Fat girls falling into water" and "Big grandpa falling into a pit." WeChat accounts such as "A You Game Commentary" and Xiaohongshu accounts such as "Cross-border Player" modify classic works such as "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and "Journey to the West" using AI to spread content from a "foreign Shanhaijing" containing bloody, horrifying, and bizarre scenes, some of which are tagged with "children's animation," disturbing the physical and mental health of minors. The relevant accounts have been dealt with in accordance with the law. 4. Accounts such as "Jin Jinch" fabricate and disseminate false information, misleading public perception. Douyin accounts such as "Jin Jinch," WeChat accounts such as "Ni Ren," Xiaohongshu accounts such as "Nori Fenton," and Weibo accounts such as "Shou Jiangfu" spread false, misleading information such as overcrowding of green-skinned trains and explosions in high-speed tunnels during the Spring Festival, which are fabricated to capitalize on social hot topics. The relevant accounts have been dealt with in accordance with the law. In the next step, the cyberspace department will continue to maintain a strict regulatory stance and resolutely curb the chaos in the online ecosystem, disposing of any discovered violations promptly. At the same time, we welcome the active participation of the majority of netizens in supervision and reporting to jointly create a clean and positive online environment.
