On the news front, a report from Huajin Securities pointed out that benefiting from the new policy of offshore duty-free shopping and the combination of Spring Festival stocking demand, as of January 2026, Haikou Customs supervised a total of 45.3 billion yuan in offshore duty-free shopping (a year-on-year increase of 44.8%), with 560,000 shopping trips (a year-on-year increase of 21%) and 3.367 million items purchased (a year-on-year increase of 14%). The bank believes that the increase in average consumption and average price per item reflects strong demand for high-quality boutique and gift sets during the Spring Festival, effectively offsetting the reliance on mere customer flow growth. The report continued to point out that during the first week of the Spring Festival travel rush (February 2 to 8), Haikou Customs supervised approximately 11.06 billion yuan in offshore duty-free shopping (a month-on-month increase of 6.3%); 191,900 duty-free shoppers (a month-on-month increase of 26%). With dual flows of "returning home" and "traveling out", the momentum of offshore duty-free consumption is strong, and it is expected that with the opening of the Spring Festival Golden Week on February 17, the consumption potential will continue to be released. China Tourism Group Duty Free Corporation's Haikou International Duty-Free City has won the bid for the right to operate duty-free consumer goods in the Haikou West Coast Business District and continues to attract customer flow through the integration of "duty-free + cultural tourism" activities during the Spring Festival period.
