Zhongtai: AI driving global engine demand trend upward, focusing on opportunities for increasing domestic supporting share.
The demand for North American gas turbines accounts for over 20% of the global demand, but the actual installed capacity in 24 years is significantly less than the sales volume at the time. Currently, the average service life of gas turbines in the global market has reached 19.7 years, with ample market space for minor repairs, component replacements, and major overhauls.
Zhongtai released a research report stating that global data centers will continue to expand, and the United States' AI data centers will require an additional 31GW of power in the next five years. Starting in 2024, global gas turbine mainframe factory orders are growing rapidly, with order volume reaching a new high in 2025. Mainframe factories are improving their future gas turbine production capacity planning to address the backlog of orders, providing high prosperity guarantee for the industry chain in the next five years. Looking ahead, North America's gas turbine demand accounts for over 20% of the global market. However, the actual installed capacity in 2024 was significantly lower than the sales volume that year. The average service life of gas turbines in the global market has reached 19.7 years, creating ample market space for minor repairs, refurbishment, component replacements, and major repairs.
Zhongtai's main points are as follows:
Gas turbines: Widely used downstream applications, F-class is the current mainstream model.
Gas turbines are rotary power machinery that converts thermal energy into mechanical power using continuous flowing gas as the working fluid. The basic structure includes a compressor, combustion chamber, and turbine. Throughout the global development process, gas turbine products have continuously improved in power, gas temperature, and thermal efficiency, forming a trend of mature E-class, mainstream F-class, and extreme development of H/J-class.
In terms of power, gas turbines are divided into heavy-duty gas turbines and light-duty gas turbines. Heavy-duty gas turbines are mainly used in urban power grids represented by fixed power generation units, while light-duty gas turbines are mainly used in industrial power generation, marine power, oil and gas transportation, distributed power generation, and military fields.
Demand side: AI drives the gas turbine market into a boom cycle, with high overseas leading orders.
AI Driven: Global data centers will continue to expand, with US AI data centers requiring an additional 31GW of power in the next five years. The power consumption of global data centers will increase from 415TWh in...
