In January, a total of 7631 sale and purchase agreements for various types of buildings were sent to the Hong Kong Land Registry for registration (a decrease of 15.2% compared to December last year, but an increase of 54.5% compared to January last year). Based on a twelve-month moving average, the number of sale and purchase agreements for buildings in January was 6950 (an increase of 3.3% compared to December last year, and an increase of 21.7% compared to January last year). The total value of sale and purchase agreements for buildings in January was 572 billion Hong Kong dollars (a decrease of 12.0% compared to December last year, but an increase of 55.8% compared to January last year). Of these agreements, 5669 were for residential buildings (a decrease of 3.6% compared to December last year, but an increase of 56.3% compared to January last year). The total value of sale and purchase agreements for residential buildings in January was 492 billion Hong Kong dollars (a decrease of 3.9% compared to December last year, but an increase of 84.1% compared to January last year).
