Due to the high offering price, Anthropic was eliminated, Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) intends to finalize Alphabet Inc. Class C Gemini to power Siri.

According to reports, Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) may have selected Alphabet Inc. Class C (GOOGL.US) to assist in operating the next generation Siri voice assistant, while negotiations between the iPhone maker and Anthropic regarding the smart upgrade of Siri have broken down. Reportedly, Apple Inc. adjusted its underlying strategic layout for Apple Intelligence in the second half of 2025. According to an official statement in January 2026, Apple Inc. has reached a long-term deep cooperation agreement with Alphabet Inc. Class C. The core semantic understanding and multimodal interaction functions of the new generation Siri will be driven by the Gemini model. Market analysis points out that Alphabet Inc. Class C's annualized offer of around $1 billion is more cost-effective. The mature cloud infrastructure of Alphabet Inc. Class C can better support the concurrent demands of iOS global users. In contrast, Apple Inc. has also held discussions with Anthropic and OpenAI to assist in operating Siri and handling some Apple Intelligence business. However, Anthropic, which has developed the popular Claude series of artificial intelligence models, was seeking "tens of billions of dollars annually for many years" in return, the report added. Apple Inc. eventually found the terms not favorable enough and shelved the negotiations with Anthropic. The breakdown of these negotiations also highlights the pressure AI unicorn companies face in balancing valuation and revenue. Despite losing Apple Inc. as a core consumer end terminal order, Anthropic still maintains the confidence of the capital market with its 32% share in the enterprise market. Currently, Anthropic is actively preparing for its planned initial public offering (IPO) in 2026, with rumors suggesting its private market valuation has skyrocketed to $350 billion. For Anthropic, future growth momentum will rely more on its deep cultivation in the B-side vertical field, rather than a single consumer hardware bundle. Furthermore, the all-new Siri with Gemini technology is set to launch with the iOS 26.4 version in February 2026, marking Apple Inc.'s initial completion of its AI ecosystem loop. This change in partnership alters the power balance in Silicon Valley's AI camp. Earlier this month, there were reports that, as OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, increasingly becomes a competitor to Apple Inc., OpenAI has "decided to actively withdraw" from the aforementioned cooperation negotiations.
