The Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverage (+0.62%) category saw a year-on-year increase in price index, driven mainly by the increase in dining out and takeaway charges, bread and biscuit prices, and white rice prices, while prices of fresh fish and pork decreased. The Housing and Fuel category (+0.25%) also recorded an increase due to the rise in housing rent, while the decrease in electricity prices mitigated the overall increase. Among the different categories, Leisure, Sports, and Culture (+2.02%) and Miscellaneous Goods and Services (including personal care, insurance, as well as jewelry and watches, +1.85%) recorded significant year-on-year increases. On the other hand, the prices of Information and Communication (-2.82%), Clothing and Footwear (-1.88%), and Transportation (-1.15%) categories fell. The average index for Class A and B consumer prices increased by 0.28% and 0.37% year-on-year, respectively.
Compared to December 2024, the composite consumer price index in December rose by 0.69%. The price indexes of Leisure, Sports, and Culture (+1.89%), Miscellaneous Goods and Services (+1.84%), and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (+1.27%) categories all recorded year-on-year increases, while the Information and Communication (-2.22%) category saw a decline. The Class A and B consumer price indexes increased by 0.65% and 0.72% year-on-year, respectively.
Compared to November 2025, the composite consumer price index in December rose by 0.17%. The prices of air tickets and men's and women's clothing rose, driving an increase in the price indexes of the Transportation (+1.65%) and Clothing and Footwear (+0.97%) categories month-on-month. On the other hand, the selling prices of alcoholic beverages decreased, leading to a decrease in the price index of the Tobacco and Alcohol (-0.68%) category; in addition, vegetable prices fell, resulting in a decrease in the price index of the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (-0.03%) category. The Class A and B consumer price indexes increased by 0.13% and 0.20% month-on-month, respectively.
The average composite consumer price index for the fourth quarter of 2025 increased by 0.67% year-on-year, with the Class A and B consumer price indexes increasing by 0.61% and 0.72% respectively; compared to the third quarter of 2025, the overall composite consumer price index increased by 0.27%.
