Musk admits that the two future products of Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US), Cybercab and Optimus, will have a very slow initial production ramp-up.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on Tuesday that the initial production speed of the company's Cybercab autonomous taxis and Optimus humanoid robots will be "extremely slow", and will gradually increase afterwards.
Tesla, Inc. CEO Elon Musk said on Tuesday that the initial production speed of the company's Cybercab autonomous taxi and Optimus humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation will be "extremely slow" and will gradually increase.
Analysts say that although Tesla, Inc.'s current core revenue and profits still come from electric vehicle sales, the company's market value of up to $1.39 trillion largely depends on investors' future expectations for its autonomous driving technology and humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation.
In response to a post on social platform X claiming that Cybercab will start production within a hundred days, Musk stated that the speed of capacity ramp-up depends on the complexity of the product. He pointed out that production speed is inversely proportional to the number of new components involved and the complexity of the manufacturing process.
Musk wrote: "For Cybercab and Optimus, almost every step is brand new, so the initial production speed will be extremely slow, but eventually it will achieve rapid growth."
Cybercab is a two-seater model without a steering wheel, pedals, or other manual controls. The electric vehicle manufacturer had previously announced that Cybercab is scheduled to start mass production in 2026, and Optimus humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation is "expected" to start production by the end of 2026.
In December last year, Musk revealed that Tesla, Inc. is conducting road tests for Robotaxis without safety drivers in the passenger seat.
In 2025, Tesla, Inc. launched a limited Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, using the Model Y equipped with the new version of Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology. The service initially used geofencing technology to define operational areas and all vehicles were equipped with human safety drivers.
Additionally, Musk has positioned the humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation project as a core part of Tesla, Inc.'s long-term strategy, stating that the scale of this business may eventually surpass the company's core automotive business. He believes that humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation can take on various tasks that humans are unwilling to do, potentially unlocking significant new economic value.
