WANGUO GOLD GP (03939) announced that on January 20, 2026, a case of arson occurred at the mine of its subsidiary Shandong Jinling Mining Limited (GRML) (a company registered in the Solomon Islands). GRML holds mining and exploration licenses for the Golden Hill project, which involves the development and operation of a gold mine located on Guadalcanal Island in the central part of the Solomon Islands, about 30 kilometers southeast of the capital Honiara. Around 10 pm on January 20, 2026 (Solomon Islands time), a group of unidentified individuals broke into the open-pit mining area of the Golden Hill mine, damaging GRML's machinery equipment. Over a dozen pieces of machinery equipment were damaged to varying degrees. No injuries were reported. Recently, the Solomon Islands government has strengthened management of the mining area, deciding to crack down on illegal gold panning activities and demanding that illegal gold panners evacuate the area. In recent months, GRML has been closely cooperating with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and local landowners to manage illegal mining activities within the mining lease area. Following the incident last night, GRML is once again fully cooperating with RSIPF officers and local landowner chiefs to investigate the root cause of the incident and identify those responsible. At present, there are no immediate safety risks to personnel and surrounding communities. The Group will continue to closely monitor the progress of the incident, further strengthen mine safety measures to ensure the safety of personnel and assets. Meanwhile, the company will maintain close communication with the Solomon Islands government to facilitate the proper resolution of the incident and ensure the normal operation of the project. Currently, the Golden Hill mine in the Solomon Islands is operating as usual.
