National Energy Administration: The total electricity consumption of the whole society is expected to increase by 5.0% compared to 2025.

In 2025, the total electricity consumption of the whole society accumulated to 10.3682 trillion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 5.0%.
On January 17th, the National Energy Administration released data on the electricity consumption in the entire society by 2025. In 2025, the total electricity consumption in the entire society reached 10.3682 trillion kilowatt hours, an increase of 5.0% compared to the previous year. Looking at electricity consumption by industry, the electricity consumption of the primary industry was 149.4 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 9.9% year-on-year; the electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 66.366 trillion kilowatt hours, an increase of 3.7%; the electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 19.942 trillion kilowatt hours, an increase of 8.2%; and the electricity consumption for urban and rural residents' daily life was 15.88 trillion kilowatt hours, an increase of 6.3%. The contribution of the tertiary industry and urban and rural residents' electricity consumption to the overall electricity consumption growth reached 50%. The rapid growth in the electricity consumption of the electric vehicle charging service industry, as well as the information transmission, software, and information technology service industry, at 48.8% and 17.0% respectively, were important reasons driving the growth of electricity consumption in the tertiary industry.
