On January 20th, the official WeChat account "WeChat Open Class" disclosed multiple WeChat cross-border data, revealing that by 2025, the number of times global cross-border and overseas users use mini-programs will exceed 5 billion; WeChat mini-program services have covered 100 countries and regions worldwide; WeChat cross-border payments have covered 78 countries and regions, supporting 36 currencies; in the second half of 2025, the transaction amount completed through mini-programs increased by over 70% year-on-year. WeChat stated that the transaction amount of mini-programs by Chinese outbound users increased by 60% year-on-year. User profiles show that besides the young demographic, the 35-55 age group demonstrates significant consumption potential and decision-making power; in terms of scenarios, the average monthly transaction volume of transportation mini-programs increased by over 140%, and food and beverage services increased by over 50%. Mini-program services have expanded across 108 sub-sectors. Regionally, there has been rapid growth in places like Malaysia, Singapore, Italy, and France, with the average monthly transaction volume in Malaysia skyrocketing by over 90%, Singapore increasing by over 80%, and Italy achieving an explosive growth of over 300% in monthly transaction amount. Local Users overseas are increasingly using mini-programs, with a 70% year-on-year increase in transaction amount, while inbound users' mini-program transaction amount increased by 50% year-on-year. Regarding cross-border payments, mini-programs have integrated the payment methods most familiar to overseas users, supporting them to use international credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, and local e-wallets like PayNow and Bank of China Macau directly within the mini-program. In terms of scenario implementation, it has been launched first in regions like Singapore and Macau, making it convenient for outbound tourists and allowing local overseas users to directly consume through mini-programs.
