On Tuesday, gold stocks showed strong performance, with Gold Fields Limited Sponsored ADR (GFI.US) up nearly 6%, AngloGlod Ashanti (AU.US) up over 5%, Kinross Gold Corporation (KGC.US) and Agnico Eagle Mines Limited (AEM.US) both up over 4%, and Newmont Mining (NEM.US) up over 2%; silver concepts all rose, with Silvercorp Metals (SVM.US) up over 5%, Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS.US) up over 4%, and First Majestic Silver (AG.US) up over 2%. In terms of news, spot gold rose 1.2% to $4723.65, while spot silver briefly rose over 1% to $93.42. Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio warned that President Trump's policies could trigger a "capital war" as countries and investors reduce their investments in US assets. Growing trade tensions and increasing fiscal deficits could weaken confidence in US debt, potentially leading investors to turn to gold and other hard assets. He suggested using gold as an important hedge tool.
