On January 20, the latest case statistics released by the Hong Kong Social Welfare Department show that the number of cases receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) in December 2025 decreased by 112 compared to November, with a monthly decrease rate of 0.1%. The total number of cases receiving CSSA at the end of December was 193,850, with a total of 256,518 beneficiaries.

In terms of case categories, the number of cases in the single-parent category and the unemployed category both decreased by 0.7% monthly, with 17,988 cases and 15,238 cases respectively. The number of cases in the permanent disability category decreased by 0.2%, with 16,375 cases. The number of cases in the low income category increased by 0.5%, with 1,288 cases. The number of cases in the poor health category and the elderly category both increased by 0.1%, with 28,028 cases and 111,009 cases respectively.
