The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the United States announced on Monday that it has officially launched a recall investigation for about 597,571 vehicles from General Motors Company (GM. US) that have potential engine defects.
The investigation involves certain GM models equipped with the L87 6.2-liter V8 gasoline engine, which have reportedly experienced engine damage or malfunctions.
According to the automotive safety regulatory agency, they have received 36 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQ) so far, alleging that vehicles previously included in recalls are still experiencing engine issues.
NHTSA stated that these complaints all point to the previous recall repair measures not effectively resolving the problem.
It is reported that in April of last year, General Motors Company recalled 721,000 vehicles worldwide for similar engine problems, with nearly 600,000 vehicles affected in the U.S. market.
