By the year 2025, Hong Kong International Airport will have received a total of 61 million passengers.
According to data from Hong Kong International Airport, in December 2025, the airport received 5.8 million passengers, an increase of 13.5% compared to the same period last year; flight movements increased by 7.1% year-on-year to 35,920. The number of visitors and transit/transfer passengers in the month recorded double-digit growth, with the passenger volume to and from mainland China, Southeast Asia, and North America showing the most significant increase. In 2025, Hong Kong International Airport received a total of 61 million passengers. Strong Christmas travel season also drove growth, with eight days in December seeing daily passenger volume exceeding 200,000. In terms of cargo volume, cargo throughput in December increased by 3.6% year-on-year to 462,000 metric tons. Both export and transshipment cargo volumes recorded growth, with transshipment volume increasing by 18%. Southeast Asia, Europe, and mainland China were the most significant growing markets for cargo. Annual passenger volume in 2025 recorded double-digit growth, reaching 61 million passengers, an increase of 15% compared to the previous year. Annual flight movements reached 394,730, an 8.7% increase year-on-year; annual cargo throughput increased by 2.7% to 5.07 million metric tons. Cathay Pacific CEO Zhang Lijiahui said, "The strong traffic in 2025 marks a new milestone, consolidating Hong Kong's position as a leading international aviation hub in Asia. Last year, we further expanded our air network, adding 30 new destinations globally, including Abu Dhabi, Brussels, and Dallas, and increasing frequencies on major routes. Our efforts have been recognized, with about 80 awards received throughout the year covering various aspects of operations and services, confirming the professionalism and excellence of the entire airport community."
