Wang Pin Di indicated that in 2025, the number of transactions for new properties in Hong Kong exceeded 20,000, an increase of nearly 30% compared to the previous year, reaching a new high since 2013.
Director Wang Pindi of the Hong Kong Property Research Department stated that in 2025, the number of transactions for first-hand new properties in Hong Kong exceeded 20,000, an increase of nearly 30% compared to the previous year, reaching a new high since 2013. The sales performance of first-hand properties last year was impressive, mainly due to developers actively promoting new projects while also accelerating the sales of remaining units. The transactions of remaining units even surpassed those of new projects. Wang Pindi pointed out that among the 20,056 first-hand transactions in 2025, approximately 47.9% were from new projects launched in 2025, totaling 9,613 transactions, while approximately 52.1% were from remaining units launched before 2024, totaling 10,443 transactions, showing that the sales performance of remaining units even exceeded that of new projects. Among the 10,443 remaining unit transactions, the volume and attractiveness of Kai Tak transactions were the highest. In terms of the region with the most transactions of remaining units among the 10,443 transactions, Kai Tak had the highest number at 1,990, followed by Tseung Kwan O with 1,457 transactions, and then Tuen Mun, Aberdeen and Ap Lei Chau (including Wong Chuk Hang), and Cheung Sha Wan with 796, 684, and 631 transactions respectively, ranking third, fourth, and fifth. Regarding the transaction amounts of remaining units, Kai Tak had the highest amount of approximately 25.76 billion HKD, which was also the highest among all districts. This was followed by Aberdeen and Ap Lei Chau (including Wong Chuk Hang) with a transaction amount of approximately 12.66 billion HKD. Ho Man Tin, Tseung Kwan O, and Tuen Mun ranked third, fourth, and fifth with transaction amounts of approximately 12.27 billion, 10.24 billion, and 4.7 billion HKD, respectively. In addition, besides the quick turnover of remaining units, the record high number of transactions of new projects in 2025 was also attributed to developers actively promoting new projects. According to statistics, a total of 53 new projects were launched in 2025, approximately 12.8% more than the 47 launched in 2024, with a total of 15,700 units, approximately 4.6% more than the 15,010 units launched in 2024.
