The Director of the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Bureau, Samson Sun, stated that the Hong Kong government is currently negotiating with leading companies to establish a national manufacturing base in Yuen Long. In the future, there will be bigger developments in Yuen Long (Technology Park land), with leading companies setting up national manufacturing bases.
The Commissioner of Innovation and Technology in Hong Kong, Mr. Sun Dong, recently stated in a media interview that the Hong Kong government is currently in talks with leading enterprises to establish a national manufacturing base in Yuen Long. In the future, there will be further developments in Yuen Long (in terms of technology park land), with leading enterprises setting up national manufacturing bases. Mr. Sun mentioned that in the three years since the current government took office, over 500 companies have been introduced and nurtured by the Innovation and Technology Bureau in Hong Kong, including some key enterprises. He noted that during his tenure, key enterprises such as Contemporary Amperex Technology (03750), YUNJI Technology, and Horizon Robotics have been introduced, and these companies will first establish international headquarters and research and development centers in Hong Kong before expanding their international business. Whether they will set up production facilities in Hong Kong is another matter and will depend on whether Hong Kong can provide sufficient land conditions. He also revealed that the Hong Kong Section of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park in He Tang Port has officially opened, with the first three buildings in operation and over 60 companies currently stationed there. Currently, over 1400 people are working in the park, and this number is expected to rise sharply when most of the companies complete their renovations next year. He mentioned that the globally second-ranked new energy company, Hai Chen Energy Storage, has leased 40,000 square feet of space in He Tang Port to establish a research and development and pilot production industry. Mr. Sun also mentioned that future industrial development will focus on the extension to the New Territories Technology City, with plans to simultaneously promote the development of the He Tang and New Territories projects through a public-private partnership model.
