The Hong Kong Tourism Board: Approximately 1500 tour groups departed during the Christmas holiday, with short-haul destinations being the main focus.
Yang Shufen stated that during the Christmas holiday, about 1500 tour groups departed from the port, which is similar to previous years. Among them, short-distance trips were the majority, with 60% being domestic high-speed rail tour groups.
Ms. Yang Shu-fen, the General Manager of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, stated on a radio program that during the Christmas holiday season, about 1,500 tour groups will depart from Hong Kong, which is similar to previous years. Most of these tours are short-haul trips, with 60% being mainland China high-speed rail tours. Among the North Asian destinations, South Korea is more popular than Japan, which has seen a slight decrease in tour groups due to the bear attack incident and earthquakes. Overall, the number of tour groups to Southeast Asia has also decreased by nearly 20%. As for inbound tourists, it is expected that the proportion of overseas tourists will be slightly higher than usual, as hotel prices are higher during the peak season. As a result, the number of mainland tour groups will decrease from over 6,000 in November to over 4,000 in December, with more than half of mainland tourists making same-day return trips.
